Tina Leon

Tina Leon, formerly known as Marie-Christine, is a singer-songwriter and musician from Montreal, Quebec. She began playing the piano at the age of five, performing at age twelve, and at age twenty landed a role in the music revue Generation Motown where she played hundreds of live shows. Her success in the revue opened up opportunities for working with artists such as Stevie Wonder, who is featured on her track, “Keep On Running,” and singing live on stage alongside Lionel Ritchie.

Her original music has been performed throughout Canada, Europe, and the United States alongside artists from a mixture of musical backgrounds. She is a regular on various Quebec television shows such as: Ya Du Monde A Messe, Belle et Bum and En Direct de l’Univers. Over the years, Tina Leon has cultivated an artist community of like minded musicians, and from this community, built her team of collaborators for her debut EPs Push and Pull.

The concept for Push and Pull is partially inspired by what she describes as her “duality”— off the stage she is more shy and introspective, but when she performs she is able to let loose her “inner beast.” When reflecting on this new work’s intent, she says, “It takes some time to figure out what you want and don’t want. There comes a time when you ask yourself certain hard questions and you decide to take action towards what you truly want for your future. That is when you begin to bloom into who you want to be.”

Tina Leon uses her music to reconcile between the fluctuating nature of seemingly conflicting emotions, desires, likes and dislikes. Her work confronts the difficult questions we might ask ourselves: “Where am I in my life?”/“What do I want?”/“Who is the person I have become?”

Moving forward, Tina Leon is excited to once again bring her new work to a live audience. “When I see people enjoying the music at a concert it gives me so much energy to keep creating.” She looks forward to sharing her upcoming debut album “Push & Pull”, and its concept, with the world. Working song-by-song, she keeps an open mind to what the big picture may hold, what the album as one unit will reveal. When her individual works join to form a story, and a theme arises, a layer of mystery is added to her music. This has become her personal songwriting style—trusting the day-to-day processes that will eventually come together, culminating into one final piece.

Describing it as a rainbow of soul, her debut album “Push & Pull” slated for release in spring 2025 is a colourful journey through jazzy, funk, and pop rhythms with rich and enchanting melodies. Her new single “Love Is Stronger Than Pride”, a cover that pays tribute to Sade, is out now.
